Your immune system is key to overall health and graceful aging. While exceedingly complex, at its core, the immune system is a necessary component of our body’s vigilant surveillance against viruses, bacteria, and harmful toxins.
Unfortunately, our immune system becomes less efficient with age and many other factors. To help bolster your immune health, exercise, stress mediation, quality sleep, and optimized nutrition are our best lifestyle-related courses of action.
Isagenix, already offering many foods and dietary supplements to support a normal and functional immune system, has formulated Hydrate + Immune Support as another nutritional support product for your immune system.
With a peach lemonade flavor and rich in electrolytes found in our other Hydrate products, Hydrate + Immune Support features a combination of immune-supportive vitamins C and D, along with N-acetylcysteine (NAC), a potent form of the amino acid L-cysteine.
Vitamins C and D for Immune System Support
Hydrate + Immune Support provides 130 mg (144% daily value (DV)) per serving of naturally sourced vitamin C from the acerola berry. Vitamin C⎯the most important water-soluble antioxidant in our circulation⎯is a key nutrient for a functioning immune system and is concentrated in immune cells (1-3).
Additionally, the vitamin D in Hydrate + Immune Support is naturally derived from lichen, a hybrid of algae and other organisms. Vitamin D is another potent nutrient for proper immune function (4,5). One serving of Hydrate + Immune Support provides 100% DV of vitamin D.
Not surprisingly, both vitamins’ dietary intake, or serum levels, tend to decrease with age, potentially further impacting immune health (6,7).
N-Acetylcysteine for Efficient Glutathione Biosynthesis
Complimenting these two vitamins in Hydrate + Immune Support is NAC.
N-acetylcysteine is a molecular form of the amino acid L-cysteine. The importance of cysteine is particularly relevant in immune health as it’s a major component of the tripeptide glutathione (GSH), the most abundant antioxidant in mammalian cells. Glutathione is not only a key antioxidant on its own but is also required for several GSH-dependent antioxidant enzymes.
Importantly, neither supplemental cysteine nor GSH is efficient at increasing GSH biosynthesis.
In contrast, NAC supplementation is an effective means for enhancing GSH synthesis. Consequently, NAC has been clinically demonstrated to support normal immune and liver functioning, primarily (but not only) through its conversion to GSH (8,9).
Electrolyte Replenishment
Enhancing Hydrate + Immune Support’s functional benefits are the essential electrolytes⎯including sodium, potassium, magnesium, and chloride⎯necessary for cellular function and whole-body hydration. These electrolytes are required for basic cellular functions from the brain and neural transmission to immune system health.
With Isagenix’s Hydrate + Immune Support, you are assured of the intake of immune system-supportive ingredients plus electrolytes in a sugar-free, 10-calorie, delicious, naturally peach lemonade-flavored beverage.
